REVIEWS:

“Those not familiar with the inner workings of higher education may be shocked at the complexity and hellishness of various committees, faculty hierarchies and the pressure to publish. Tiegerman devotes substantial real estate to these topics, laying groundwork in the process for the motive of the killer or killers. Caitlyn’s passion and idealism is also a doorway into putting her character into potential danger as well.”

– Mishka Rao, Best Thrillers

“The book brims with twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. It also highlights the unpleasant reality of the divergence of opinions on political views on university campuses, which can lead to tension between professors and students.”

INTERVIEW

  • What was the idea behind writing this book and where did it come from?

The idea behind this book:  The theme underlying Past Lives Denied is that the issue of past lives is not accepted within western mainstream culture.  In addition, many people struggle with their personal experiences when it comes to flashbacks and past life memories.  Sharing these experiences with family and friends can be quite challenging and often just like myself, people will keep it as a secret for many, many years.  My personal story is that I had an experience that I kept as a secret for many years.

  • Did you draw any inspiration from real-life events or people for this story?

Absolutely.  I had a real-life experience as a teenager when I was traveling to Crete.  And I had a past life experience.  It was confusing and very overwhelming, so I shared the experience with my family and was told very firmly to keep the incident a secret because there would be profound negative implications.  In fact, I did keep it as a secret until I registered for a training course with Dr. Brian Weiss, an eminent Psychiatrist, who specializes in past life regression and has written extensively on the topic.

  • Are there any particular authors or books that influenced your writing style for this novel?

The author that influenced me the most in terms of my own novel was Dr. Brian Weiss who wrote about his personal experiences with Catherine, his patient.  Dr. Weiss’s book entitled, Many Lives, Many Masters set the foundation for me to create a story that reflected my own personal experience with past lives.
