Thirst Trap is exactly the kind of title that makes me stop scrolling for a second and pay attention. It is smart, a little dangerous, and fully aware of the reader’s curiosity.

That sort of confidence can go wrong if the book has nothing underneath it, but when it works, it creates immediate tension between wit and seriousness. I like books that know how to use that space. They lure you in with one kind of promise and then ideally deliver something sharper than you expected.

GrĆ”inne O’Hare’s book sounds like it belongs in that lane, contemporary and alert, with enough charge in the concept to justify a quick ā€œwhat am I reading right now?ā€ detour.

At the very least, it has already passed the title test. From there, the fun is finding out whether it also earns the reader’s time.
